**Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for sending me an ARC in return for an honest review. 5 stars!!! This has got to be one of the best psychological thrillers that I have ever read or come across. I needed a full day to actually gather my incoherent thoughts to come up with a decent enough review. I'm still speechless. So, I'm going to try my hardest to explain why I love this book so much. Firstly, I loved the plot. The story is told from two POVs - Judi and Amber's. The story is based on the relationship between a mother-in-law and a soon to be daughter-in-law or a new girlfriend in her son's life. But as a reader, you soon begin to realise that not everything is as clear cut as it seems to be. At the outset, I began to dislike Amber's personality intensely and I felt increasing distressed for Judi's predicament. We see how the dynamics of the family shifts when a new person suddenly comes on the scene. The author, K.L. Slater, also gives an in-depth perspective of a woman who is dealing with menopause and how this affects emotions and well being. So, as a reader, you are thrown into a situation which is charged emotionally. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen in the book. The twists and turns that it took left me reeling. Plus, the side stories play a very integral part in bringing the whole novel together. In all, K.L. Slater is a master storyteller. Secondly, I loved the pacing. The chapters were well done and succinct. No info-dumping and unnecessary clutter. I also liked how most chapters focused on Judi's POV as opposed to Amber's as this made the reveal shocking. It also lent a mystery as to what really was happening beneath the surface. All the characters were engaging and relatable. The fast paced nature of the writing and book structure made reading a virtual breeze. This made the novel equally enjoyable. I personally dislike trudging through novels that are heavy and dense. Honestly, I can see this being made into a movie. It has an awesome premise. Well, I certainly hope my review has done this book justice. I would thoroughly recommend getting yourself a copy, it's worth it. I look forward to reading more from this author. :)
